Sweet, Gentle, Timid, Snuggly

Good with dogs? Minke is good with other dogs but is timid and may initially run away from other dogs until she gets to know them. She is timid when on leash. She needs a mellow doggie friend who can show her how to dog!

Good with cats? Minke is currently living with a cat who is very confident, and after a few days of working out their relationship, they mostly avoid engaging with each other.

Good with kids? Not Tested, but she’d do better with older kids who can be calm around her. She does not like sudden movements or loud noises.

Energy level: Low to Medium. She likes to play with toys for a while, enjoys a daily walk and gets the zoomies a few times a day, but spends most of her time relaxing or snoozing in a dog bed or on her favorite couch spot.

Behavioral needs: Minke was a part of a university veterinary teaching program and was the subject of non-invasive medical procedures performed by students. As a result, she can get stressed during vet appointments and drool excessively during them, but remains the sweetest girl. She may benefit from calming medicines when she visits a veterinarian for her own purposes in the future.

Animal Characteristics: Minke is a sweet, gentle, precious, very special girl who is learning what it is like to be a beloved pet and live freely in a home. She appreciates a stable routine so that she feels safe and secure. She loves to snuggle with humans or with a doggie friend. Minke loves to ride in a car, is learning commands, is food motivated which helps with training, is learning which items are chew toys and which items are not, and has almost completed her potty training. She does not like to be put in a crate and will instead keep you company! Minke has just found her voice but does not often bark. She is looking for a peaceful forever home with somebody who works from home to support her emotional needs as well as a doggie friend who is mellow and would like a snuggly companion. Minke will benefit from continued socialization and positive reinforcement training so she can fully SHINE as she deserves!
