Name: Ted
Breed: Toy Australian Shepherd
Sex: Neutered Male
Age: 11 months
Weight: 21 lbs
Needs Experienced Adopter,
Ted can be enrolled in our foster to adopt program for continued training support
Good with dogs? He may do best as an only dog as he can be protective of his food.
Good with cats? No
Good with kids? No
Energy level: Medium. He likes to frolic with his foster friend, explore the backyard, and play with toys. Once his play needs are met, he settles down nicely.
Behavioral needs: Ted mainly lived outdoors until he was recently brought into foster care. He is learning how to be an indoor dog, feel safe, calm his stranger danger and share his resources. He requires a patient, kind adopter to work on his socialization, which will need to include professional training. He does not like being alone so a home where his owners work from home. He is very undersocialized and will need very slow introductions to other people.
Animal Characteristics: Ted is a silly rascal who thrives on fun and exploration. He is looking for an adopter who is home often to help him build confidence and trust through patience, basic training, socialization and thoughtful introductions to new experiences and new people. Ted is afraid of loud noises, barking dogs and new people. He will need a loving environment to show him that he can relax and enjoy new friends. After a rough start in life, Ted is ready to blossom and share his exuberant, playful, curious puppy personality.
