Meet Kitty!

Meet Kitty!

Kitty
Domestic Long Hair
Female
14 years old
6 lbs.

My name is Miss Kitty and all you really need to know about me is that I LOVE LAPS. I love everybody and anybody that has a lap. I love laps of all shapes and sizes. Big laps, little laps, warm laps…a Facebooking lap too busy to pet me, or a lap with all the time in the world. You might be thinking that I’m prone to exaggeration and that certainly I must like to do more than spend all day in the comfort of a lap, but you’d be mistaken. If you lose your lap, I can definitely help you find it. It’s not hard to do really, I’ll just follow you around the house while you look for it, offering plaintive meows of encouragement, until eventually you sit down and then, viola! There it is – and there I’ll be!

I might need a little help getting into your lap, I mean, I am 14 years old, but once I’m there, man, I’m there to stay. If I learned one thing from my stretch in the shelter, it’s that a lap should never be taken for granted again. They are a thing of beauty and worthy of the utmost appreciation! Just ignore that face I make when you decide to get up, I really don’t mean anything by it. It’s just, well, a lap truly is my most favorite thing in the whole world. If laps were cupcakes, I’d be the World’s Fattest Cat!

As it stands though, I probably should eat a few dozen cupcakes. My undeserved and unwarranted time at the shelter really took a toll on me, what with the lack of laps and all, but I fully intend to regain my pleasingly plump figure as soon as possible. These dang teeth of mine, or lack of a few to be exact, are slowing things down a little (wet cat food only, please!) but I’m determined.

But back to laps, it should probably also be said that if I’m not sleeping on your lap, I’m gonna want to be sleeping in your bed. Like, right next to you. Like, under-the-covers-snuggle next to you. I hope you won’t mind. I know I won’t! I also don’t mind living with other cats provided there are enough laps to go around. So, please give me a call! A lap is a terrible thing to waste! The best way to reach me is via email. While you’re at it, tell me a bit about yourself, too! Head over to the PawsCo website and fill out an adoption application. I can’t wait to meet you!

Meet Sally!

Meet Sally!

Sally
Black Lab mix
Female
4 years old
53 lbs.

Hi, I’m Sally! I haven’t had the easiest life, but I’m hoping that 2017 will be the year for me. My first owners weren’t very nice to me, but despite that, I absolutely love humans and love receiving affection – I’m just about the sweetest girl you’ll meet. I hope you love snuggling, because I am a snuggle expert extraordinaire! I even know how the, “spooning” game works – if you’re looking for a little spoon, then I’m the dog for you.

I’m a fairly low-key kind of pup. I enjoy hanging out and relaxing at home, but when my foster family grabs my leash, boy do I get excited! Walks are one of my favorite activities (next to snuggling, of course!). Did I mention that I’ve got great manners, too? I’m pretty good on-leash (except when an enticing scent catches my nose!), I can come when my name is called, and I’m a pro at “sit.” I’m crate-trained too, although I have to admit that I’m not the biggest fan of my crate. I much prefer sleeping on the bed with my foster family!

I would do best in a calm home with a loving adult or two – I bond to my humans quickly and would love to be the center of someone’s life! I can be a little picky about my canine friends and I’m not a fan of cats, so I’d prefer to be the only pet in my new home (after my rough start in life, I’m sure you can understand!)

Given my tough beginnings, I take a little while to build up trust with new humans. Like any sensitive soul, I can be timid at first, but I always come out of my shell and truly enjoy finding new humans to share my love with. I’m hoping 2017 brings me the hero I’ve been waiting for!

So what do you think? Ready to meet me and see if we have that special connection I’ve been waiting for? All you have to do is fill out an adoption application or email my friends at PawsCo today. I’ll be waiting for you!

Meet Crush!

Meet Crush!

Crush
American Pit Bull Terrier
Female
2 years old
39 lbs.

Hey there! I’m Crush and I’m a happy lady!

I am proud to be female and I’m not afraid to strut my stuff–I love to go on walks outside! I’m food motivated so I’m a fast learner. Check out some of my attributes: potty trained, not destructive when left to my own devices, will sit or lie down when asked, and love to give kisses.

I’m sweet and loving with adults and kids alike! Though I can be particular about the dogs I like, I’ll happily play with all the cool ones who know how to treat a woman. Respect, right?

One of my favorite poems is “Phenomenal Woman” by Maya Angelou. Here’s the part that really resonates with me:

I walk into a room just as cool as you please,
And to a man, the fellows stand or fall down on their knees.
Then they swarm around me, a hive of honey bees.
I say, it’s the fire in my eyes, and the flash of my teeth,
The swing in my waist, and the joy in my feet.
I’m a woman phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman, that’s me.

I guess the only other thing you need to know about me is that I’m a huge believer in the power of belly rubs and snuggling in bed. So if you could use a phenomenal woman in your life, please email adopt@pawscoadoptions.org or fill out an adoption application at https://pawsco.org/adopt/adoption-application/. Thank you so much!

Meet Claire!

Meet Claire!

Claire
Domestic shorthair
Female
14 years old
9 lbs.

What’s today’s date? What! It’s 2017 already?

Golly-gee-willikers, time passes by so quickly. I cannot believe I’m already a senior citizen—or so the label on my bag of food tells me. Luckily for me, I still have lots of love to give to an amazing forever family. I’ve recently been staying with a foster family and they have been absolutely delightful, but I’m ready to find my senior feline palace—or forever home if you prefer to call it.

You know what the best part of adopting a senior animal is? All the sage advice and stories you’ll get to hear. Like that one time my friend Gladys got a new bag of catnip for Christmas and we went out to tease the dogs next door…maybe you had to be there to think it’s funny. Anyways, I have lots of valuable worldly advice too; like never paw at a yellow and black striped flying bug, or never swallow a grasshopper whole because they’ll keep hopping in your tummy. That’s only the tip of my advice iceberg—or adviceberg, as I like to call it.

I am also a big fan of other cat friends and would also do well with a dog friend (as long as he is calm and polite with having a feline buddy!) So a home where I can have other furry friends is a great match for me but I also would do just fine as the solo animal in the home as well.

One thing to note is that I do need medication to help with my hyperthyroidism. The kind folks at PawsCo can fill you in on the details!

If you’re interested in hearing more of my stories and advice—like how to maintain your balance while swatting inanimate objects—then please email my friends from PawsCo at adopt@pawscoadoptions.org and fill out an adoption application at https://pawsco.org/adopt/catadoptionapplication/.

Meet Dakota!

Meet Dakota!

Dakota
German Shepherd
Female
4 years old
73 pounds

Hi there! I’m Dakota and I’m hoping you’ll be my best friend!

Sorry, did I come on too strong? This whole find-your-match thing is tricky! Potential partners can be intimidated because I have beauty and brains. I started as a stray and got pretty keyed up when I was forced to stay in a stressful shelter environment, but now I am so happy to be in the PawsCo foster system getting ready for the perfect forever home! So yes, I’m laying my cards on the table: I’m looking for true love.

I know, I know, I’m probably not playing by “The Rules” admitting that I want to find a home that offers stability, a routine, and love. I should flirt and play hard to get and not answer your calls, but that’s not my style! I’m friendly to people and other dogs because I want to be accepted so badly! I’d be a great pet because I’m not super hyper–I have that nice medium energy. A little tug of war or play with a ball is heaven!

Sure, I have some quirks. I don’t understand why people stare at the box they call television, so I try to stare back to see what all the fuss is about (yes, I’m told it’s cute). Cats make me nervous. Maybe it’s because they’re so coy, which I know nothing about. I prefer to snuggle in close for affection or follow people around like the proud dog that I am. I know there’s a reason why canines are called man’s best friend!

If you’re looking for loyalty and love, please email adopt@pawscoadoptions.org or fill out an adoption application at https://pawsco.org/adopt/adoption-application/. We will be so happy together!
