Meet Thumper!

Meet Thumper!

Thumper
Domestic Short Hair
Male
14 years old
10 lbs.

Hello! How nice of you to stop by! It was my face that caught your eye, I’m sure; probably thinking to yourself, “Wow! What a handsome fellow!” Thanks, I get that a lot. So, yeah, I’m Thumper and I’m 14. If you are still reading, then, like me, you are very wise. You already know that an older cat is a relaxed cat, a mellow cat, an appreciative cat…..You already know that I’ll be fine by myself while you run a few errands, that your house will be fine, that your brand new leather couch will be fine…. You already know that I’m as happy to lounge in the sunny window as on your lap and that I prefer petting to playing. It would also be correct to assume that, as an older and wiser feline, I have many purrrrrls of wisdom to share about patience, loyalty, tenacity and unconditional love, and that I don’t mind hanging out with other chill cats.

What you might not know however, is just how much I love eating. Cat food, cat treats, that cake you left on the kitchen counter, that milk in your cereal bowl (what do you mean you weren’t done?). I’ve been compared to a dog in this manner, which I would find offensive it if wasn’t true. But think of it this way, you’ll never have to clean crumbs off the kitchen floor again because I’ll do it for you! I could be your sous chef! Maybe I’ll stop once I fatten back up now that my shelter hunger strike is over, but I’m not making any promises.

Since you’ve read this far, I guess I should also let you know that I’ve got a bit of an arthritic hip. It doesn’t stop me from doing everything I want to do, thanks to my arthritis medicine, but I do need to be a little more careful. For example, I don’t really need your help to get back down off the kitchen counter (really, just hide that cake!), but I would be grateful for a helping hand sometimes. My fast-moving days are behind me so I’d like to avoid a house with fast-moving hazards, like unfriendly dogs. On the plus side, (for you, anyway) is that although I am always on the lookout for a chance to explore the great outdoors, you’ll likely be able to catch me purrrrrty darn quick.

Anyhoo, I guess that’s enough about me. Why not tell me a little something about you? Go to the PawsCo website and fill out an adoption application. I already know, even before I read it, that you and I would be great together. We should set up a Meet & Greet! A quick email to my PawsCo friends will get the ball rolling!

Meet Kitty!

Meet Kitty!

Kitty
Domestic Long Hair
Female
14 years old
6 lbs.

My name is Miss Kitty and all you really need to know about me is that I LOVE LAPS. I love everybody and anybody that has a lap. I love laps of all shapes and sizes. Big laps, little laps, warm laps…a Facebooking lap too busy to pet me, or a lap with all the time in the world. You might be thinking that I’m prone to exaggeration and that certainly I must like to do more than spend all day in the comfort of a lap, but you’d be mistaken. If you lose your lap, I can definitely help you find it. It’s not hard to do really, I’ll just follow you around the house while you look for it, offering plaintive meows of encouragement, until eventually you sit down and then, viola! There it is – and there I’ll be!

I might need a little help getting into your lap, I mean, I am 14 years old, but once I’m there, man, I’m there to stay. If I learned one thing from my stretch in the shelter, it’s that a lap should never be taken for granted again. They are a thing of beauty and worthy of the utmost appreciation! Just ignore that face I make when you decide to get up, I really don’t mean anything by it. It’s just, well, a lap truly is my most favorite thing in the whole world. If laps were cupcakes, I’d be the World’s Fattest Cat!

As it stands though, I probably should eat a few dozen cupcakes. My undeserved and unwarranted time at the shelter really took a toll on me, what with the lack of laps and all, but I fully intend to regain my pleasingly plump figure as soon as possible. These dang teeth of mine, or lack of a few to be exact, are slowing things down a little (wet cat food only, please!) but I’m determined.

But back to laps, it should probably also be said that if I’m not sleeping on your lap, I’m gonna want to be sleeping in your bed. Like, right next to you. Like, under-the-covers-snuggle next to you. I hope you won’t mind. I know I won’t! I also don’t mind living with other cats provided there are enough laps to go around. So, please give me a call! A lap is a terrible thing to waste! The best way to reach me is via email. While you’re at it, tell me a bit about yourself, too! Head over to the PawsCo website and fill out an adoption application. I can’t wait to meet you!

Meet Sally!

Meet Sally!

Sally
Black Lab mix
Female
4 years old
53 lbs.

Hi, I’m Sally! I haven’t had the easiest life, but I’m hoping that 2017 will be the year for me. My first owners weren’t very nice to me, but despite that, I absolutely love humans and love receiving affection – I’m just about the sweetest girl you’ll meet. I hope you love snuggling, because I am a snuggle expert extraordinaire! I even know how the, “spooning” game works – if you’re looking for a little spoon, then I’m the dog for you.

I’m a fairly low-key kind of pup. I enjoy hanging out and relaxing at home, but when my foster family grabs my leash, boy do I get excited! Walks are one of my favorite activities (next to snuggling, of course!). Did I mention that I’ve got great manners, too? I’m pretty good on-leash (except when an enticing scent catches my nose!), I can come when my name is called, and I’m a pro at “sit.” I’m crate-trained too, although I have to admit that I’m not the biggest fan of my crate. I much prefer sleeping on the bed with my foster family!

I would do best in a calm home with a loving adult or two – I bond to my humans quickly and would love to be the center of someone’s life! I can be a little picky about my canine friends and I’m not a fan of cats, so I’d prefer to be the only pet in my new home (after my rough start in life, I’m sure you can understand!)

Given my tough beginnings, I take a little while to build up trust with new humans. Like any sensitive soul, I can be timid at first, but I always come out of my shell and truly enjoy finding new humans to share my love with. I’m hoping 2017 brings me the hero I’ve been waiting for!

So what do you think? Ready to meet me and see if we have that special connection I’ve been waiting for? All you have to do is fill out an adoption application or email my friends at PawsCo today. I’ll be waiting for you!

Meet Pacino!

Meet Pacino!

Pacino
Domestic Short Hair
Male
2 years old
9 lbs.

Pardon me, but may I have a word with you? Yes, over here behind the couch. I simply need to ask you a few questions. Before we get started, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Pacino and I’m in the market for a forever family, but not just any family. The family I’m looking for is special indeed, for I am a special little guy.

Finding the right family is very much like finding the missing puzzle piece. I’ll be the right fit for them and they’ll be right for me. Now, on to the questions! Are you someone who has the patience to wait for me to come out from behind this couch and warm up to you? I won’t lie, you may have to come and get me. As much as I love my belly rubs, my fear usually keeps me from putting myself out there. Do you live in a quiet place? My perfect fit probably lives in a calm house where the two legged creatures are tall and don’t crawl or cry. Do you have other pets? I really like the other kitties in my foster home, and might even do well with a calm, respectful canine. Do you like to snuggle? I’ll spend a lot of time on my own, until you pull me onto your lap like my foster family does. We’re working on this to help with my fears (that and the belly rubs). It’s a process, but that’s where the patience thing comes into play!

So, last question; Do you have the time and patience to help me recognize my true kitty potential? If you’re curious to see whether you’re my missing piece, contact my friends at adopt@pawscoadoptions.org or fill out an application at https://pawsco.org/adopt/catadoptionapplication/. I think we’ll know right away if we fit!

Meet Crush!

Meet Crush!

Crush
American Pit Bull Terrier
Female
2 years old
39 lbs.

Hey there! I’m Crush and I’m a happy lady!

I am proud to be female and I’m not afraid to strut my stuff–I love to go on walks outside! I’m food motivated so I’m a fast learner. Check out some of my attributes: potty trained, not destructive when left to my own devices, will sit or lie down when asked, and love to give kisses.

I’m sweet and loving with adults and kids alike! Though I can be particular about the dogs I like, I’ll happily play with all the cool ones who know how to treat a woman. Respect, right?

One of my favorite poems is “Phenomenal Woman” by Maya Angelou. Here’s the part that really resonates with me:

I walk into a room just as cool as you please,
And to a man, the fellows stand or fall down on their knees.
Then they swarm around me, a hive of honey bees.
I say, it’s the fire in my eyes, and the flash of my teeth,
The swing in my waist, and the joy in my feet.
I’m a woman phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman, that’s me.

I guess the only other thing you need to know about me is that I’m a huge believer in the power of belly rubs and snuggling in bed. So if you could use a phenomenal woman in your life, please email adopt@pawscoadoptions.org or fill out an adoption application at https://pawsco.org/adopt/adoption-application/. Thank you so much!

Meet Hank!

Meet Hank!

Hank
Beagle
Male
7 years old
31 lbs.

Well hello! I’m Hank and I’m proud to be a beagle.

Why wouldn’t I be? Snoopy was a beagle, for goodness’ sake. Charles Darwin sailed around the world on the HMS Beagle. A beagle named Uno was “Best in Show” at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show in 2008, and Miss P reclaimed that title for us in 2015. Everybody loves us!

That’s why I am just so happy to find my loving forever home! I can’t wait to bring tons of love and laughter to a wonderful family of my own. And I can tell you right now… you’ll just love spending so much time with me! I love lying on the couch next to somebody, goofing around with squeaky toys (even fetching!), or making people smile by hiding my nose under blankets or pillows. I’m one of those special dogs who even sleeps through the night!

I like to show off a bit on walks as I am such a polite walker and love going on walking adventures with my foster parents! I’d even be a great hiking dog (I’ve heard Colorado has some amazing trails that I would love to check out!) In fact, I love to go on walks so much that I’ll sit before I go outside. I also sit for treats and my food bowl. Yep, I’m pretty darn smart!

While I do just fine interacting with dogs out and about on walks, I’ve shown to be a bit too jealous of other dogs in the house and am not the biggest fan of sharing my space with another dog friend. Therefore, I’d do best in a home where I can be the only pooch in the house (but don’t worry…I have so much love to give, you won’t mind at all!) But I do just fine with cat friends so if you have a feline buddy in the house already, I’m happy to co-exist and be best of buds with them!

Can I please come home with you? Just email adopt@pawscoadoptions.org or fill out an adoption application at https://pawsco.org/adopt/adoption-application/. We’ll have more adventures together than Snoopy and Charlie Brown!

Meet Claire!

Meet Claire!

Claire
Domestic shorthair
Female
14 years old
9 lbs.

What’s today’s date? What! It’s 2017 already?

Golly-gee-willikers, time passes by so quickly. I cannot believe I’m already a senior citizen—or so the label on my bag of food tells me. Luckily for me, I still have lots of love to give to an amazing forever family. I’ve recently been staying with a foster family and they have been absolutely delightful, but I’m ready to find my senior feline palace—or forever home if you prefer to call it.

You know what the best part of adopting a senior animal is? All the sage advice and stories you’ll get to hear. Like that one time my friend Gladys got a new bag of catnip for Christmas and we went out to tease the dogs next door…maybe you had to be there to think it’s funny. Anyways, I have lots of valuable worldly advice too; like never paw at a yellow and black striped flying bug, or never swallow a grasshopper whole because they’ll keep hopping in your tummy. That’s only the tip of my advice iceberg—or adviceberg, as I like to call it.

I am also a big fan of other cat friends and would also do well with a dog friend (as long as he is calm and polite with having a feline buddy!) So a home where I can have other furry friends is a great match for me but I also would do just fine as the solo animal in the home as well.

One thing to note is that I do need medication to help with my hyperthyroidism. The kind folks at PawsCo can fill you in on the details!

If you’re interested in hearing more of my stories and advice—like how to maintain your balance while swatting inanimate objects—then please email my friends from PawsCo at adopt@pawscoadoptions.org and fill out an adoption application at https://pawsco.org/adopt/catadoptionapplication/.

Meet Bubbie!

Meet Bubbie!

Bubbie
Domestic Short Hair
Male
6 years old
9 lbs.

Have you guys heard of this new trend called Cat Memes? Apparently, they’re all the rage on the Interwebs. After seeing a few, I decided I was the inspiration for cat memes! You see, I love being pet, until I don’t like being pet anymore! Apparently, this kind of behavior is super funny to you humans. Well, that’s just me, Bubbie, being Bubbie!

So, I am a youngster but I’ve seen some stuff. When I was just a kitten, I tried out a store and cage environment but really didn’t like it. It was quite lonely and I took to making myself extra clean through grooming. I just wanted to ensure I was as handsome as possible in case my forever family saw me that day! After that, I ended up with the nice folks at PawsCo and now I am in a loving home as a foster pet.

My humans say I am friendly, cheese-motivated, toy-motivated, and after all that motivation, I am sleep-motivated. I am free to roam the house, and to be honest, with all that free time, I just can’t help but nap! I should also note that I am superbly nonchalant with other cats in the house. I secretly like the companionship.

I am definitely on the adoption market and would be so happy to meet you and find out if you think I would be the right gentleman for your home. I promise to keep you company in the kitchen, nap by your side to keep you warm, and provide you with an abundance of inspiration for your venture into cat memes!

Thanks for considering me as an addition to your family. You can apply to adopt me or email my friends at PawsCo to learn more!

Meet Dakota!

Meet Dakota!

Dakota
German Shepherd
Female
4 years old
73 pounds

Hi there! I’m Dakota and I’m hoping you’ll be my best friend!

Sorry, did I come on too strong? This whole find-your-match thing is tricky! Potential partners can be intimidated because I have beauty and brains. I started as a stray and got pretty keyed up when I was forced to stay in a stressful shelter environment, but now I am so happy to be in the PawsCo foster system getting ready for the perfect forever home! So yes, I’m laying my cards on the table: I’m looking for true love.

I know, I know, I’m probably not playing by “The Rules” admitting that I want to find a home that offers stability, a routine, and love. I should flirt and play hard to get and not answer your calls, but that’s not my style! I’m friendly to people and other dogs because I want to be accepted so badly! I’d be a great pet because I’m not super hyper–I have that nice medium energy. A little tug of war or play with a ball is heaven!

Sure, I have some quirks. I don’t understand why people stare at the box they call television, so I try to stare back to see what all the fuss is about (yes, I’m told it’s cute). Cats make me nervous. Maybe it’s because they’re so coy, which I know nothing about. I prefer to snuggle in close for affection or follow people around like the proud dog that I am. I know there’s a reason why canines are called man’s best friend!

If you’re looking for loyalty and love, please email adopt@pawscoadoptions.org or fill out an adoption application at https://pawsco.org/adopt/adoption-application/. We will be so happy together!

Meet Tikki!

Meet Tikki!

Tikki
Manx Cat (Brown Tabby)
Male
6 years old
12 lbs.

When you hear the word “perfect,” do you think of something or someone who is without fault, flawless, or ideal? “Perfect” is defined as “having all the required or desirable elements, qualities, or characteristics; as good as it is possible to be.” It also happens to be how my foster family describes little ol’ me. That’s right, my name is Tikki and according to those who know me well, I’m just perfect.

At 6 years old, I’m definitely past the kitten stage, but that doesn’t mean I don’t know how to have fun! I can still play and pounce with the best of them! That said, I also know when it’s time to snuggle. I accept affection from everyone. I’m a gentle soul who is happy to hang out with humans (both big and small), canines and other felines, too! I’ve been a pro at the litter box for as long as I can remember, and I will make sure to keep an eye on that roomba for everyone’s sake.

So, there you have it. Fun, loving, protective, smart—that’s me! Who doesn’t want a little perfection in their lives? Or perhaps in my case, purrfection is a better word. See, I’m even funny! I’m also looking forward to meeting my forever family so make sure you email my friends at adopt@pawsco.org or fill out an adoption application at pawsco.org/adoptions/catadoptionapplication/. Let’s find out if you and I are the purrrrfect fit!

Meet Oreo!

Meet Oreo!

Oreo
Domestic Medium Hair
Male
7 years old
10 lbs.

They call me Oreo. And when they call me, I usually answer in my own quiet voice. I haven’t learned your language yet, but I’m working on it. I’ve already learned a lot of other things by living with people.

It took me a little while to get used to being in a real home. I spent some time living outside before I was put in a shelter. I was so scared there that I hid in the back of my cage the whole time. The people didn’t think I would ever get adopted because I was terrified of everything outside of my little metal box.

But then PawsCo got me and put me in a real home—with treats, and toys, and catnip, and a great window seat! I like all of that, but most of all I like the person in the real home. I hid from him at first, but then I noticed how nice he was to me. He gives me lots of head and belly rubs. Now I follow him around everywhere to get more of those. I guess I’ve always just wanted to be around people who give me head and belly rubs.

I’m still scared of some things, and it takes me awhile to feel safe in new places. But I really like people now. I even like the other cat I live with. I’ve met some dogs and some kids too—both are pretty good if they’re quiet and don’t bother me too much.

If someone makes me feel safe and loved, I’m going to stay with them forever. If you want me to stay with you forever, email adopt@pawscoadoptions.org or fill out an application at https://pawsco.org/adopt/catadoptionapplication/.
